...so I stripped out all the emissions, including the air-conditioning.
There was no computer chip to complain, so it was happy to be rid of the
baggage. At the top, I used an Edelbrock aluminum intake, with a Carter
625 4-barrel and a low-rider 18" air filter. Underneath were Hooker alumni-coated headers
and a custom, 2.5"
dual-exhaust. Inside I added a Hurst Competition shifter with linkage.
Eagle GT tires certainly helped, but I was more interested in the
straight-away than the twisties. Of course, it was a crappy GM product
after all, and not designed for all that horsepower, so I went through 3 clutches and
2 rear-ends, not to mention endless speeding
tickets - but man, what a rush!
